Until
now, a lot of stress was laid on the use of right keywords and key
phrases, in order to gain the search engine momentum; and even though
Google updated its algorithms, namely Venice, Panda, Search Plus Your
World etc, the importance held by keywords remained unaltered. However
now the Google update algorithm is going to be moved to semantic search
technology, something which will bring a brand new element in the whole
game – the human element!
Understanding the semantic search!
Semantic
basically means making a term much more meaningful and thoughtful. Up
until now, Google blindly followed the keywords being placed in the
searched query and promptly displayed the results.
However,
starting from the day the feature of semantic searches is introduced,
Google will dive in further to understand the real meaning behind the
words being searched for. Google will try to understand the relationship
between these words, rather than just going by the keywords and showing
the results.
This
means that Google will be intelligent enough to know that they’re is
different from their and that New when used with York has a different
connotation altogether.
If
in case you are wondering what exactly led to this change, well the
reason is Apple’s Siri. Because Siri gives importance to natural
language over the keywords, Google had to come up with a solid answer.
Google’s response to Siri, Google Assistant, that will be released later
this year, makes use of the same technology.
Introduction of the Knowledge Graph
The
Knowledge Graph will provide the ultimate support to the semantic
search concept. Knowledge graph is the company providing information,
which will answer all the possible queries that the users are searching
for.
Not
only would it result in better understanding of the searched
information, the users will also receive a much more refined and
relevant information, as against the link of several other websites to
draw the information from.
It’s impact on SEO
It
basically means that you would have to spend extra efforts while
researching the keywords for your content. Earlier it was easy to
manipulate the keywords, but not along with keywords, the entire context
and meaning will gain prominence.
Basically,
whenever a user performs the search, the primary reason is to get
answer of a question, no matter how weirdly the question is being
framed. Now, people looking for SEO would have to get deeper into
research and understand the reason behind a particular search.
For instance, if someone has searched for Smoking, it may have various meanings, like:
Does smoking causes impotency?
Will smoking help me put of weight?
How do I quite smoking?
Quit Smoking Rehab Center
And
so on. A particular keyword may reveal a wide range of meaning and in a
semantic search world, the same must answer a particular question. It
may be a cumbersome task to feature a particular keywork naturally in a
content, but each time you get down to writing now, you would have to
consider what the user may think (or ask) while typing a particular
keyword.
You competition is now with Google itself!
With
the availability of Knowledge Graph, Google shall no longer remain just
a search engine giving you the links to various other websites that
would answer the question. It will answer the question itself, and hence
as for the search engine rankings and exposure, and online marketing
campaign,, you are now not only competing with other companies, but with
Google itself as well.

impact of the same? Do you think it is more user-friendly? Share with
